  • Do you agree with John McCain that the debate should be postponed due to the ongoing problems with the economy?
  • If you were allowed to ask questions at the debate, what questions would you want answered?

I dont really think that the debate need be delayed. Yes the economy is crumbling but i think that makes the debate more needed.
If I could ask a question it would be what do you plan to do about the economy now?

I agree with Danny, the debate is needed so people can hear the candidates idea's on the topic. If they cancel the debate they might accomplish something at the meeting like an idea on what to do, but action can't be taken on the same day and i feel it's a waste of time. Isn't there another day they can have the meeting?

I don't think the debate should be delayed because obviously we need the debate because of the economy. If Barrack is ready for the debate then McCain should be too.

Obama is right on this one. Although there is a conflict with the economy the president should be able to deal with multiple conflicts and debates at a time.

Obama is so right. This is the perfect time to do a debate because some people still haven't made up their mind or still could change their mind. The world can't revolve around if McCain has time!!!!!!

I think they should of done the debate its a perfect time. People they need to see this debate its important. Some people still don't know who is right and who to vote for. By having a debate they can make up there lovely minds. A debate is needed and there is no time to delay the debate.

I'm sorry Danny, but I strongly disagree with you. This needs to be dealt with right now. The falling economy is hitting some harder than others. Also, it's not that McCain isn't ready, he just wants to help the citizens of our country. Obama says he'll help change the economy when he becomes president, but McCain is trying to change it right now.

I completley agree with Danny. I don't think that the debate should be postponed either. I think the reason why McCain is postponing it is because he isn't ready for it, so he is making an excise to get out of it. I personally don't think it is going to work, the debate is tomorrow, and i don't think that McCain is going to be able to get out of it in such short of notice. And also if the economy is so bad, why didn't McCain do something about it last friday. He just happened to plan to meet with the president on the same day that they are having a really important debate.

I agree with Nashalia, Obama is right. As president, you have to be able to do more then one thing at a time. This debate is VERY important to the election, for people to see what the candidates are all about. As Nashalia said, the world doesn't revolve around McCain's schedule :D

Dannny, I disagree yes it is the economys fault that we are now in a financial crisis but they can't get out of it on their own. McCain is running for president and he has responsibilities as a candidate (like this debate) but he also has responsibilities as a senator and if he feel that he needs to postpone the debate to deal with problems that he as a senator has to deal with then I agree. I don't think he should postpone for very long though because he needs to be in the debate. But if he wants to postpone it for a couple weeks to help out the government I think he should.

I disagree strongly with McCain. Yes, he should help the economy, but nothing needs to be delayed for it. If you are going to lead the world, you need to learn how to do 2 things at once, John McCain. The debate should go on. Obama is completely right, McCain needs to figure out how to manage his own time, and he can't make the whole USA wait for him to "fix" the economy first.

I do not think that McCain should postpone the debate, there is always going to be something else going on, that you want to deal with, but if McCain wants to be President, he needs to understand that this debate is very important. Yes, the economy is a very big problem, but McCain cannot fix this by himself. I think that McCain;s thought of postponing the debate shows that he is not ready to be president.

GO OBAMA!

I think that this debate needs to happen because both candidates need to talk about this issue. Just because McCain wants to delay the debate doesn't mean that they should because he needs to learn to keep the debates. It is very unprofessional to cancel a debate. OBAMA REPRESENT

I think that the debate should be postponed for at least a week. McCain is just trying to solve the bigger issue. I think that the economy is much more important than the debate. McCain is showing that he will try to fix the problems instead of pushing them aside if he is elected. For everyone that is saying that he's postponing because he's not ready, just think about it. He is completely stopping his campaign to fix this issue, and I resect him for that.

I think McCain was right to delay the debate. The economy is doing horribly right now, and it is a big decision he has to make. I think it is right for him to postpone the debate so he can put some serious thought into his decision. Also, it's not like he cancelled the debate, he POSTPONED it, meaning it will happen eventually.

I don't agree with John McCain to postpone the debate. He has known about the debate for a while and i think the only reason he wants to postpone it is because he is not prepared for the questions that will be asked. If he wants to deal with the problem with wall street then he can do that also. If he is running for president it shouldn't take all of his energy to focus on the debate. If the economy is bad he could have dealed with that last week.

I would ask what they are planning to do with the economy now?

My opinion is that the debate should not have been postponed. The reason for the debate is to help the people of America understand the candidates point of views and was needed for the country of America. If a candidate is not ready, it is not necesery to cancel the debate because the people of america need to make up their minds. allie

I think that it was fine that the debate was delayed. Deciding weather or not to tax people for the Wall Street collapse is very important and the debate could be just done at a later date. Making decisions about the economy now is more important. It was slightly inconsiderate to Obama. McCain could of told Obama earlier and then it might have been less of a big deal. As long as the debate isn't delayed for too long it should be fine.

# Do you agree with John McCain that the debate should be postponed due to the ongoing problems with the economy?

No. I think that especially in times like this, with a failing economy, not to mention 2 wars being fought abroad, the people more than ever need to hear from their leaders, or potential leaders, how they are going to deal with all this bad stuff happening so they know who to vote for, and choose for the next leader; hopefully the next CHANGE in this country.

# If you were allowed to ask questions at the debate, what questions would you want answered?

I would want to know the basics- what is our new president going to do to change the bad stuff going on? What will change about the economy crisis, the wars, global warming ect. And HOW will they change what's going on.

i don't think a delay in the debate is a necessary. I feel as though McCain is only doing this to make himself look better and to avoid debating Obama. McCain has had other chances to help the economy (he didn’t show up to vote on the extension of the renewable energy tax credit) and now, all of a sudden, he's interested? That seems highly unlikely to me.
My question would be what efforts each would make to slow/reduce the effects of global warming

I do not agree with McCain such that the debate is delayed. The future president should be able to handle many important situations at the same time, multitasking. He shouldn't have the right to cancel the debate, since a very large production, and too big to have a last minute delay. McCain doesn't show great leadership skills, and does not seem like he would be a good president. If I was present at the debate I would be sure to ask where each of the candidates stand towards the war in Iraq.

I don't think McCain should delay the debate because attending the debate and making arguments will be better for his campaign than going to the meeting about the economy. He is not the only person involved in the debate so he should also consider Obama. If I could ask a question it would be what effects do you think the bailout plan will have on our economy?

Anonymous said...

No I see John McCain's delay of the debate as an excuse to gain confidence of the voters who are concerned with the economy. Just as Obama said, a president is supposed to be able to handle more than one issue at once. It is the job of the president to be able to handle all the issues that arise. If McCain can't handle these issues with the economy and a debate, then how the hell would he be able to support an entire country where problems are piled up on his desk on the daily?

No he shouldn't postpone the debate. McCain is avoiding his duties as a canidate by applying his time to a problem which at the given time isnt his to solve. He thinks he can get the vote of the people who are putting the crash of Asherthe economy as a priority. He should be concentrationg on the debate with obama where he can display his ideas.

I would ask the canidates what their plan for mending the broken economy was. I would also ask what their evacuation pan is for Iraq.

I don't believe that the debate should be postponed. Our future president should be able to handle more than one issue at once. With the wars, the search for clean energy, he crumbling economy and more, the next president will need to be able to find solutions to our problems quickly and efficiently. If McCain can't prepare for the debate and work on the bailout package at the same time, is he really the best choice for our next president?

If I could ask a question tonight, it would be: So, Mr. McCain, how's that bailout package coming along? Have you figured out a plausible solution yet?

I do not agree with John Mccain because if the debate was postponed, then SNL wouldn't be able to mock the debate...

Mccain only wants to postpone the debate because he needs more time to prepare for the debate. He said that he wanted to have a meeting with the senate because he wanted to work on finding a consensus for a financial bailout package, but there are many people who are skeptical about this statement. For one, the debate would start at 9 p.m on a friday. I doubt that the senate would want to work on coming up with a consensus on a friday. I think that he's trying to postpone the debate because he wants more time to prepare himself for the debate.

If I had a good question to ask MCcain, it would be. "Why would you want to have a meeting with the senate on that specific date and time?"
